PRP
What You Need To Know
What is PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)?
PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a regenerative treatment that uses your body’s own platelets to accelerate healing and rejuvenate your skin and hair. Platelets contain growth factors that stimulate cell turnover, collagen production, and tissue repair.
PRP is created by drawing a small amount of blood from the patient, which is processed to concentrate the platelets from the plasma. This powerful serum can be applied or injected into targeted areas to boost healing, stimulate hair growth, and enhance results
Where Can It Be Used
At Mornina, we use PRP to enhance various treatments, including:
- Microneedling: PRP is applied topically after microneedling, where it penetrates the micro-channels in the skin, further boosting collagen production and speeding up healing.
- Morpheus 8: After this radiofrequency microneedling treatment, PRP can accelerate skin rejuvenation, enhancing the tightening and firming effects.
- PRP Injections for Skin: PRP can be injected directly into the skin to treat areas of concern, such as under-eye circles, fine lines, or acne scars.
- PRP for Hair Loss: PRP is also used to treat hair thinning and hair loss. When injected into the scalp or applied after microneedling, PRP stimulates hair follicles to encourage new hair growth and thicker hair
Vampire Facial: Combining PRP and Microneedling
The vampire facial is one of the most well-known uses of PRP. This facial combines microneedling with the application of PRP, derived from the patient's own blood, to supercharge the skin's healing and rejuvenation process. Microneedling creates tiny micro-injuries in the skin, and the PRP is then applied to the treated area.
The growth factors in PRP penetrate deep into the skin, boosting collagen production and promoting rapid healing.
The vampire facial is highly effective for:
- Improving skin texture and reducing the appearance of acne scars.
- Softening fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in firmer and more youthful-looking skin.
- Brightening the complexion, giving the skin a radiant glow.
How Does PRP Work?
The platelets in PRP contain proteins and growth factors that act as signals to your cells, instructing them to regenerate and repair.
This encourages your body to produce new collagen and elastin, improving the texture, tone, and firmness of your skin.
For hair loss, PRP stimulates dormant hair follicles, encouraging them to regrow thicker and healthier hair.
By using PRP after microneedling, Morpheus 8, or through direct injections, the treatment promotes faster recovery and better overall results
What to Expect During a Session
- Treatment Time: A PRP session typically takes 30-60 minutes depending on the treatment area.
- Comfort: If combined with microneedling or Morpheus 8, a numbing cream will be applied to ensure comfort during the procedure. Blood is drawn from your arm and processed to extract the PRP, which is then applied to the skin, scalp, or injected.
- Recovery: After a PRP treatment, there may be mild redness or swelling for a few hours, but recovery time is typically short. PRP speeds up the healing process, allowing your skin or scalp to recover faster
Results
- Skin Results: You may notice improved skin texture and a healthy glow shortly after treatment, but full results appear over several weeks as collagen builds up.
- Hair Results: For hair loss, results may become visible within a few months as hair follicles respond to the treatment. Hair continues to thicken over time with regular PRP sessions.
- Long-Lasting Effects: PRP treatments are known for their lasting effects, with results improving over time as new collagen is produced. For best results, a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart is recommended.
